The government delegation asked Jamaat-e-Islami not to call an Islamabad sit-in for three days, but no progress was made in talks at Punjab House.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 10th Sep, 2026) Talks between Jamaat-e-Islami and the government on the petroleum levy are continuing, with the government asking the party for three more days.
According to sources, the government delegation asked Jamaat-e-Islami not to call for a march towards Islamabad for another three days.
A Jamaat-e-Islami delegation led by Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch arrived at Punjab House for talks with the government delegation. The government team was led by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and included Rana Sanaullah, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik and Bilal Azhar Kayani.
Earlier, on 7 September, a Jamaat-e-Islami delegation led by Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch had presented the government with proposals and recommendations regarding petroleum product prices.
