Pakistan Will Fulfil Its Role Under Makkah Defence Agreement: FO Spokesman

No talks are currently underway on any new proposal or issue, while expansion of the agreement is also not under consideration, Sajad Haider Khan said during his weekly briefing.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 10th Sep, 2026) Foreign Office Spokesman Sajad Haider Khan said Pakistan would fulfil its role in accordance with the requirements of the Makkah Defence Agreement, adding that no talks were currently underway on any new proposal or issue.

During his weekly press briefing, he outlined Pakistan’s position on the defence agreement with Saudi Arabia, the situation in occupied Kashmir, Houthi attacks and several international developments.

Regarding the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia and security cooperation, the spokesman said the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia was fully operational and Pakistan would perform its core defence role in accordance with all its requirements.

He said that no proposals were currently under consideration for further expanding the Makkah Agreement between Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia or for including other countries.

The first priority of the three countries was to strengthen their mutual cooperation and organisation. Pakistan has strongly condemned the Houthi rebels’ attacks on Saudi Arabia and expressed complete solidarity with the Saudi leadership and people.

Regarding India’s illegal actions and human rights violations, the Foreign Office spokesman said Kashmir was an unresolved disputed issue on the United Nations agenda that could not be changed by India’s unilateral claims or tactics.

He said the illegal imprisonment of Yasin Malik in the occupied valley and his affidavit were a slap in the face of the Indian judicial system, urging the international community to take immediate notice of his deteriorating health.

Pakistan also strongly condemned the demolition of an ancient mosque in the Indian city of Saharanpur on 5 September.

He said memorandums of understanding had been signed between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan in several fields during the prime minister’s visit.

Pakistan, in cooperation with Arab and Islamic countries, had completely rejected Israeli proposals based on the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. On the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a consignment of 100 tonnes of relief goods had also been dispatched for flood victims in Nepal.

Sajad Haider Khan said Pakistan was fully prepared to host the SAF Games from 4 to 11 April 2027.

He added that Pakistan was an official part of China’s key Global Governance Initiative and was working on it jointly. Meanwhile, the Anti-Narcotics Force, acting in cooperation with Sri Lankan authorities, dismantled a drug network operated by an Afghan national during an operation at Karachi Port and recovered 200 kilograms of narcotics.
