The government has imposed a continuous and record increase in petrol and diesel prices over just three days, collecting Rs133 above the actual price through taxes and margins.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 10th Sep, 2026) Pakistan’s inflation-hit public is facing a continuous burden from petroleum products, with official documents revealing that the government is collecting up to Rs133 per litre in additional taxes, levies and margins over the actual cost of petrol and diesel.
According to media reports, the actual cost of petrol is Rs234.73 per litre, while the government has imposed Rs131.60 in levies, taxes and various margins.
As a result, petrol is being sold with an increase of Rs133.02. Similarly, Rs122.
55 per litre is being collected in levies, taxes and margins on the actual price of high-speed diesel.
It has been reported that petrol and diesel prices have seen continuous and record increases over the past three days alone.
Petrol was priced at Rs345.87 per litre until September 7, but was increased by Rs21.88 over three days, taking the new price to Rs367.75 per litre. Diesel was priced at Rs378.05 per litre until September 7; after an increase of Rs14.62 per litre within three days, it has now reached a record high of Rs392.67 per litre.
