MIRPURKHAS, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Sep, 2026) Girls’ hockey activities and competitions were organized in Mirpurkhas by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs as part of the Defence Day celebrations, with more than 100 female players participating enthusiastically.
The hockey activities were conducted under the supervision of Lahore-based hockey coach Areeba and hockey coach Ms. Iram Baloch, who came from Jacobabad. The girls were provided training in hockey and briefed about the basic rules, skills and techniques of the game.
A two-day hockey series was also organized between Dreamers academy Mirpurkhas and the Jacobabad Female Hockey Team. Players from both teams displayed excellent skills and impressive performances throughout the series.
At the closing ceremony of the hockey series, District Sports Officer Wasdev Malhi welcomed the special guests.
Shahid Tahir, Assistant Director Environment; Hamad Gujjar, SDO; Inamullah, SDO Jhudo; PS to Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Usman Jhanjhi; Ismail Memon; social worker Muhammad Bakhsh Kapri; Shah Mardan Mari and Altaf Soomro attended the ceremony.
Officials and representatives of various sports organizations, including Saleem Khan, Razi Ansari, Saleem Baloch, Amjad Soomro, Wahid Hussain Pehlwani, Aslam Qureshi, Iqbal Malik, Shoaib Bhatti, Nasir Baloch, Saeed Ahmed, Zam Zam and Kanwal Narejo, were also present.
At the conclusion of the event, trophies and cash prizes were distributed among the winning teams, while the players were encouraged and appreciated for their performances.
The speakers appreciated the organization of the girls’ hockey activities and the two-day hockey series on the occasion of Defence Day.
