New Development Before PTI’s September 27 Long March; Arrest Warrants Issued For Sohail Afridi, Others


Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Tahir Abbas Supra heard the November 26 protest case registered at Margalla Police Station.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Sep, 2026) The Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court issued arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Provincial Assembly member Abdul Ghani Afridi, National Assembly member Junaid Akbar and other leaders in the November 26 protest case.

According to media reports, Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Tahir Abbas Supra heard the November 26 protest case registered at Margalla Police Station.

The court rejected all applications submitted by the accused seeking exemption from personal appearance.

It was reported that, due to their absence, the court upheld the arrest warrants for Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Junaid Akbar and all other nominated accused who did not appear today, and ordered their immediate issuance.

The court also ruled that legal proceedings to declare Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, MPA Dr Amjad Khan and others proclaimed offenders should continue.

During the hearing, statements from four additional official witnesses were recorded, bringing the total number of witnesses whose statements have been recorded in the case to 42.

Including the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, a total of more than 15,000 unidentified individuals have been nominated in the FIR. At present, a formal trial is under way against eight Primary accused.

The court directed Islamabad Police to submit the final challan against Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the other nominated accused to the court record as soon as possible, after which the hearing was adjourned.
