RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Sep, 2026) The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CP&WB) Rawalpindi has mobilised its Family Tracing Section to reunite missing and vulnerable children with their families and launched an awareness campaign to educate parents and citizens about child protection, prevention of child disappearances and the importance of immediate reporting.
According to the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau, the Family Tracing Section was actively working across the province to identify missing and abandoned children, trace their parents and other family members, and safely reunite them with their families.
The section used available information, identification details and other particulars of children to trace their families and facilitate safe reunification.
In Rawalpindi, parents and citizens were also being sensitised about child safety measures and the need for timely action in cases of missing children.
As part of the awareness campaign, parents were being advised to educate children about basic safety precautions when going outside and not to leave young children unattended at markets, parks, educational institutions, public places or other crowded locations.
Parents have also been advised to teach children their name, their parents’ Names, home address and parents’ contact numbers so that they could be identified and their families contacted in case of an emergency.
The bureau has further urged parents to keep a recent photograph of their children along with essential identification details for use in case of an emergency.
Citizens had been appealed to immediately inform the relevant authorities if they would find a missing, abandoned or vulnerable child instead of ignoring the situation. This would help ensure the child’s safety and enable authorities to initiate the process of tracing the family.
The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau has advised parents and family members not to wait in case a child went missing and to immediately contact the Child Protection Bureau helpline 1121. Timely reporting could improve the chances of tracing the child and reuniting him or her with the family.
The bureau has also stressed that child protection was a collective responsibility and that parents, teachers, educational institutions, media and citizens could play an effective role in protecting children from disappearance, exploitation and other risks.
