SARGODHA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Sep, 2026) Punjab Chief Minister(CM),Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the establishment of a sub-campus of the University of Sargodha (UoS) and a Center of Excellence in Sillanwali tehsil on the recommendation of Member Provincial Assembly and Chairman Zakat and Ushr Council Rana Munawar Ghaus.
This was disclosed at a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner(DC) Revenue,Khawar Bashir Ahmad at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Friday to review administrative arrangements and progress on implementation of the project.
MPA Rana Munawar Ghaus,Assistant Commissioner(AC),Sillanwali Chaudhry Muhammad Akmal,UoS Dean of Sciences Dr.Ameer Ali,Deputy Director Colleges Muhammad Zia-ul-Hassan and other relevant officers attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that the district administration had allocated 50 acres of land on Burhana Road for the University of Sargodha.
Under the project,the Center of Excellence would be established in the first phase,followed by the university’s sub-campus in the second phase.
A technical team of the University of Sargodha would conduct a detailed inspection and assessment of the allocated land, after which the design,requirements and other technical aspects of the project would be finalized.
The proposed Center of Excellence would initially focus on advanced education and research with PhD classes and modern research facilities planned as part of the first phase.
In the second phase,various BS-level academic programs would be launched under the university’s sub-campus.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue directed the concerned officers to expedite completion of all administrative and technical requirements to ensure timely progress on the project.
He said expanding access to higher education at the tehsil level was among the Punjab government’s educational priorities.
He added that the establishment of the UoS sub-campus and Center of Excellence in Sillanwali would create new opportunities for higher education and research for local youth.
