ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Sep, 2026) Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday called for reforms in the local bodies system to improve public service delivery and address people’s problems at the grassroots level.
Speaking to a private television channel, the minister said there was a need to introduce comprehensive reforms to ensure better and more efficient services for the people. He said all political parties should sit together and deliberate on developing a comprehensive local governance system that could provide essential services to citizens at their doorsteps.
He emphasized that administrative reforms were essential for strengthening the system and improving its effectiveness.
He further said that transferring powers to the local level would help resolve issues faced by the people and make public services more accessible. He stressed that political parties had a responsibility to play their role in promoting progress, prosperity and better governance for the people of Pakistan.
