RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 2nd Sep, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir has directed all relevant departments to remain active in the field and take all necessary measures to ensure public safety as monsoon rains continue in the city.
According to the Meteorological Department, 45 mm of rain was recorded in Saidpur on Wednesday, 30 mm at the PMD, 13 mm at New Katarian, 12 mm at Shamsabad, 5 mm each at Golra, Bokra and Pirwadhai, and 4 mm each at Kachhari and Gawalmandi.
Personnel of WASA, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Suthra Punjab and other relevant departments remained deployed in the field.
Rescue 1122 safely evacuated 103 people from rainwater and conducted rescue operations at 12 locations, including Rainabad Bridge, Kuri Road, Dhoke Kala Khan, New Phaghwari, Dhoke Najju, Arya Mohallah, Band Khanna Road and Ganjmandi.
On the Deputy Commissioner’s instructions, WASA Rawalpindi remained on high alert, with staff and heavy machinery deployed in low-lying areas, particularly Liaquat Bagh, Committee Chowk Underpass, Murree Road, Dhoke Khuba,
Circular Road and Sadiqabad.
WASA Rawalpindi Managing Director said garbage brought by previous rains into Nullah Lai had been cleared in time, helping maintain normal and uninterrupted water flow. He added that Nullah Lai was being continuously monitored.
Meanwhile, around 2,100 Suthra Punjab workers remained deployed across the city to carry out drainage, waste lifting, and sanitation operations during the rainfall.
