DC Reviews Upcoming Anti-polio Drive Plan, Intensifies Anti-dengue Surveillance

RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 1st Sep, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd), Nadeem Nasir presided over a joint administrative meeting on Tuesday to finalize field preparations for the upcoming anti-polio campaign starting September 21 and evaluate ongoing dengue containment measures across the district.

Health officials briefed the chair that over 750,000 children under five years of age will be vaccinated during the district-wide anti-polio drive.

The deputy commissioner directed departmental heads to finalize micro-plans, complete polio team trainings and deploy field monitors to ensure 100% coverage, particularly in high risk zones.

Terming the drive a national duty, he instructed officers to maintain strict field supervision so no eligible child misses the vaccine.

Reviewing anti-dengue interventions, he directed health and municipal authorities to accelerate indoor and outdoor surveillance, step up larvicidal operations and eliminate breeding sites following continuous monsoon rains.

Warning against administrative negligence during peak vector transmission conditions, he ordered strict enforcement of safety protocols, cross-departmental coordination, and robust public awareness campaigns across all tehsils.
