BAHAWALPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th Aug, 2026) The Agriculture Extension Department has inspected ongoing field activities across the province to review the overall condition of the cotton crop and ensure effective implementation of various agricultural initiatives launched by the Chief Minister of Punjab.
According to an official press release issued by the Agriculture Department here on Sunday, a high-level meeting was held to review the current situation of the cotton crop in detail.
During the meeting, officials thoroughly discussed the present status of the crop, formulated a strategy for the next three to four weeks, and finalized comprehensive measures to increase per-acre yield while protecting the crop from adverse weather impacts, insect pests, and diseases.
Addressing the field staff, high officials directed them to educate and guide farmers about the prevailing threats to the crop.
The meeting was informed that attacks of whitefly, including both adults and nymphs, alongside pink bollworm, are currently being observed in various cotton fields across the region.
The field staff were instructed to advise farmers to carry out spray cycles with recommended insecticides at intervals of at least six days to achieve effective control over the whitefly population. Furthermore, calendar-based sprays against the pink bollworm must be conducted strictly at intervals of six to seven days.
The department emphasized that field staff should encourage farmers to complete at least three sprays against both whitefly and pink bollworm by September 20 to ensure maximum crop protection and safeguard per-acre yield.
