MULTAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 29th Aug, 2026) Commissioner Multan Division Amir Karim Khan launched a comprehensive plantation initiative across Multan division, introducing a mandatory tree-planting requirement for holders of government land.
The initiative was discussed at a divisional meeting chaired by the Commissioner and attended by Deputy Commissioners and relevant officials.
Under the new directive, every numberdar holding government land as a numberdari grant, as well as allottees and leaseholders of government land allotted or leased under various board of Revenue schemes, will be required to plant a minimum of 10 trees per acre.
Commissioner Amir Karim Khan said the initiative could lead to the plantation of millions of trees across thousands of acres in the division. He directed that only saplings measuring at least five feet in height be planted, while landholders would have the flexibility to choose suitable fruit-bearing or shade trees.
To ensure accountability and long-term monitoring, every allottee and numberdar will maintain a Tree Log Book documenting the trees planted on their land. Revenue and Forest Department officials will conduct regular field inspections, while geotagging and other modern monitoring tools may be introduced to strengthen verification and oversight.
Deputy Commissioners will review plantation progress in their respective districts every 15 days, while Commissioner Amir Karim Khan will personally review the overall progress of the initiative across the division on a monthly basis.
The Commissioner said the initiative would help expand green cover in rural areas and contribute to long-term environmental sustainability and the protection of local ecosystems. He stressed that effective implementation could transform large areas of Multan Division into a significantly greener landscape through the plantation of millions of trees.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan on Saturday visited Hussain Agahi Bazaar and adjoining areas to inspect ongoing development projects being executed under Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s beautification scheme.
During the visit, the commissioner reviewed the physical and financial progress of various projects and received a detailed briefing on civil works, urban shading and other beautification measures.
Aamir Karim Khan inspected the ongoing work and directed the concerned authorities to ensure high standards of quality and finishing. He emphasized that the beautification projects were aimed at transforming the city’s central and historic areas while providing citizens with better, sustainable and improved civic facilities.
The commissioner also directed officials to accelerate the pace of work and ensure that all projects were completed within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality.
Deputy Commissioner Faisal Saleem, Chief Officer Iqbal Khan and other relevant officials were also present on the occasion.
