Dera Ismail Khan, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 29th Aug, 2026) Commissioner Dera Division Daud Khan directed the relevant departments to intensify coordinated efforts against electricity theft and illegal connections and ensure effective recovery of outstanding dues of Peshawar Electric Power Company (PESCO).
He issued the directives while chairing an important meeting held at the Commissioner’s Office to review measures for curbing power theft and improving recovery of PESCO dues across Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Upper South Waziristan and Lower South Waziristan districts.
The meeting was attended by senior administrative and police officials as well as PESCO authorities, including Superintending Engineer PESCO Dera Circle Engineer Hizbullah Khan Mehsud, Additional Deputy Commissioner Syed Muhammad Arsalan, Assistant Commissioner Pool and Development Sajjad Baloch, Executive Engineer City Division Engineer Sanaullah, SDO Cantt Sajjad Ahmad, Tehsildar Recovery PESCO Dera and other concerned officials.
The participants reviewed the directives issued by the Home Department regarding action against electricity theft and illegal connections and discussed measures to activate teams constituted at divisional and district levels for the purpose.
The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen coordination among PESCO, police, district administration and revenue authorities to ensure effective action against power theft, illegal connections and outstanding electricity bills.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Daud Khan said electricity theft and illegal connections were among the major factors contributing to power-related problems, including load-shedding.
He directed the concerned departments to fully activate their respective teams and undertake joint operations against electricity theft and illegal connections. He stressed that police, PESCO, district administration and revenue officials should work in close coordination to make the campaign effective.
The Commissioner further directed that progress on anti-power theft measures should be reviewed regularly. He asked the PESCO Superintending Engineer to submit a report every fortnight regarding action taken and progress made in all four districts of the division.
It was also decided that the overall performance and progress of the campaign would be reviewed on a monthly basis to ensure continuity and effectiveness of measures against electricity theft and improve recovery of PESCO outstanding dues.
