RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 27th Aug, 2026) Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique on Thursday conducted a detailed visit to the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) Rawalpindi on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to inspect clinical operations and evaluate healthcare provisions.
During the visit, the provincial minister checked various departments of the hospital and directly inquired about medical facilities from patients receiving treatment.
A high-level meeting chaired by Khawaja Salman Rafique was also held at PKLI Rawalpindi, where the management briefed him regarding institutional performance, healthcare services, and administrative affairs, says a press release.
Announcing a major healthcare initiative during his visit, the provincial minister said that a free kidney and liver transplant programme under the auspices of the Punjab Chief Minister would be launched soon.
He congratulated the medical staff on successfully performing two liver transplants at PKLI Rawalpindi, describing the milestone as a major achievement.
Affirming the government’s priorities, Khawaja Salman Rafique emphasized that delivering world-class, standardized medical services remains the foremost objective of the Punjab government.
He said that advanced healthcare facilities were being extended to patients suffering from kidney and liver ailments at PKLI Rawalpindi.
