MULTAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd Aug, 2026) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued its crackdown on elements involved in the sale and production of unsafe food, taking major action in Multan and Khanewal.
According to Director General Food Authority Raja Mansoor Ahmed, PFA food safety teams inspected a meat shop and a dairy manufacturing unit in Samejaabad, Rehmanpura, and at 17-Kassi, Budhla road, Multan.
During the operation, around 4.5 maunds of stale and unhygienic meat was recovered from an illegal slaughterhouse and destroyed. The meat had changed colour and was found in an extremely poor condition. A veterinary doctor declared it unfit for human consumption and hazardous to health.
The PFA team also recovered 40 kilograms of prohibited ingredients and expired colouring agents from the production area of the dairy manufacturing unit.
Cases were registered against the accused for serious violations of food safety laws.
In Khanewal, the food safety team raided an egg storage facility in Bismillah Town on Jhang road and recovered 5,000 broken, rotten and foul-smelling eggs. The DG Food Authority said the eggs were intended to be supplied to various bakeries for use in food preparation. Raja Mansoor Ahmed said indiscriminate action against those playing with public health would continue across the province. He added that the PFA was further tightening the noose around those involved in the production, storage and sale of fake, substandard and hazardous food items.
