LAYYAH, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Layyah Asif Ali Dogar has said that 95 per cent construction work on the 286-bed General Hospital Layyah has been completed, while installation, commissioning and testing of essential medical equipment are currently underway.
He said the state-of-the-art hospital was expected to be completed by October this year, adding that the project had been upgraded from its original capacity of 200 beds to 286 beds in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The Deputy Commissioner said more than Rs2 billion in additional recommended funds had also been received for the project, which had further accelerated the pace of construction and development work.
He said the hospital would have four fully functional operation theatres capable of operating simultaneously and would be equipped with modern medical facilities to provide quality healthcare services to the people of Layyah and adjoining areas.
As part of the development of the hospital premises, landscaping work, including the preparation of grassy areas and plantation of ornamental and shade-giving trees, was also in progress with the cooperation of the relevant departments.
Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali Dogar said that after completion of the General Hospital, work on the residential block would be initiated under Phase-II of the project.
