BAHAWALPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 20th Aug, 2026) The district police have arrested 60 suspects for having illegal weapons during a crackdown launched against criminal mafia during fist two weeks of prevailing month of August across the district.
According to an official press release issued by the district police office here, as part of the campaign against illegal weapons, Bahawalpur police registered 60 criminal cases and arrested 60 suspects for possessing illegal weapons. It added that during the police operations, police recovered illegal weapons from the suspects including three rifles, seven revolvers, forty-four 30-bore pistol, two shotguns, four carbines and 245 rounds of ammunition.
Meanwhile, the police spokesperson said the smart policing initiative aims to enhance public safety through the use of technology, intelligence-led policing, and proactive law enforcement, while ensuring that criminal elements are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
