ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Aug, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar Friday said the second phase of extension of Bari Imam shrine will start soon while work on the third phase of Data Darbar was continuing.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony here of three-day annual Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Kazmi known as Bari Imam.
He said the first extension of Bari Imam was completed by a previous government of Pakistan Muslim League(N).
The present government was committed to the expansion of the Bari Imam shrine, he added.
During the visit to the shrine of Hazrat Bari Imam, Ishaq Dar laid chadar and wreath and offered prayers for the security, progress and prosperity of the country.
He said the Urs of Hazrat Bari Imam was held after a gap of 16 years in 2023 due to efforts of leadership of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz led by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
Ulema and sufis had a crucial role in spread of islam in the region which ultimately led to the creation of Pakistan under the leadership of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other elders, he noted.
He said Pakistan had a special affinity with Madina, as the land of the pure and it was meant to exist for all times to come.
Federal ministers and members of Parliament were also present on the occasion.
The three day Urs at Bari Imam shrine will be held from August 15 to 17.
