LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Aug, 2026) Provincial Minister for Health and Emergency Services Khawaja Salman Rafique on Tuesday chaired a review meeting on the procurement of equipment and preparedness measures for the monsoon and potential flood situations.
The meeting was attended via video link by the Head of Procurement and Planning, Deputy Director Maintenance, Emergency Officer and other relevant Rescue 1122 officials. The minister was given a detailed briefing on procurement and preparedness by the Head of Procurement and Planning, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122).
Reviewing arrangements for flood rescue operations and vulnerable areas, Khawaja Salman Rafique said the Punjab government had procured modern jet skis, aluminium air boats, boat-carrying trucks, fiberglass boats, life jackets, surveillance drones, landing crafts, heavy-lifting drones, water-rescue drones and advanced communication equipment.
He said, on the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Rescue 1122 had been equipped with modern resources to protect the lives and property of citizens during possible floods.
“May Allah protect us from floods, but our preparations must be complete,” he said, adding that modern flood-rescue equipment had been deployed to districts located along rivers in view of possible flooding and heavy rains.
The minister said timely, effective and safe rescue services during emergencies were the government’s top priority.
He said 15,838 life jackets, 841 rescue boats and 874 boat engines had been provided across Punjab, while all Rescue 1122 personnel had been trained to operate the modern equipment.
