Squads Ordered To Crackdown On Top 100 E-challan Defaulters

LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Aug, 2026) Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi has ordered a major crackdown on the top 100 e-challan defaulters, with traffic police arresting a vehicle owner among the top 10 defaulters for allegedly using fake number plates.

According to traffic police, the accused had committed 80 traffic violations and accumulated fines exceeding Rs410,000. After learning about the outstanding fines, he allegedly replaced the vehicle’s original number plates with fake ones.

The vehicle continued to receive e-challans after the fake plates were installed, with another Rs21,000 in fines issued against the fake registration number.

Police registered a case against the accused at Nawankot Police Station and took him into custody along with the vehicle.

He will also be required to pay the outstanding fines.

The CTO said e-challan squads had been provided with a list of the top 100 defaulting vehicles and directed to trace them through the Safe City system.

He said access to 14 police services had been restricted for e-challan defaulters, including driving licence services, character certificates and various verification facilities.

Shirazi said Safe City, Police Service Centres and the licensing system had been integrated to improve the identification and tracking of defaulters.

He added that a strict crackdown was also underway against those tampering with number plates to evade e-challans, stressing that indiscriminate action would continue against traffic violators to improve road safety.
