LCCI, PTMA Call For Joint Strategy To Revive Textile Industry


LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th Aug, 2026) Pakistan Textile Mills Association (PTMA) and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Friday discussed the challenges facing Pakistan’s textile sector, explore measures to enhance exports and industrial growth, and formulate a coordinated strategy for the revival of the industry.

A high-level PTMA delegation led by its Central Chairman Waqar Ali and Chairman Nabeel Mehmood held a consultative meeting with LCCI Acting President Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh. Executive Committee Member Mohsin Bashir, along with Irshad Javed, Mian Asim Javed, Sheikh Rafaqat, Rana Muhammad Ramzan, Humayun Khan and Abdur Rouf Khan.

The participants held detailed discussions on the key challenges confronting the textile sector including rising production costs, high energy tariffs, difficulties faced by exporters and the measures required to improve the competitiveness of Pakistani textile products in international markets.

The PTMA delegation emphasized that textile industry remains the backbone of Pakistan’s exports, employment generation and foreign exchange earnings.

They stressed that the industry’s issues require immediate and effective policy intervention. They urged the government to introduce business-friendly policies that encourage investment, strengthen industrial activity and support sustainable export growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Acting President LCCI Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh reaffirmed that Lahore Chamber would continue to play a proactive role in addressing the concerns of the business and industrial community. He said that stronger coordination between the private sector, trade organizations and relevant government institutions is essential for achieving sustainable economic growth.

He added that LCCI and PTMA would continue to work closely to safeguard the collective interests of industry, promote investment, improve the ease of doing business and remove obstacles hindering industrial development, thereby contributing to a stronger and more resilient national economy.
