MUZAFFARGARH, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th Aug, 2026) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s flagship Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar programme is
proving to be a transformative initiative aimed at empowering landless deserving families by
providing them with agricultural land and financial assistance to help them achieve
sustainable livelihoods.
Deputy Commissioner Usman Tahir Jappa expressed these views while addressing a balloting
and certificate distribution ceremony held under the programme as the chief guest.
The ceremony was attended by MPA and Parliamentary Secretary Ajmal Khan Chandia, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Hafiz Muhammad Imran, Assistant Commissioner Ali Sameer, Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) Tahir Mahmood Bhatti, District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah, senior officials, farmers and beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said the district administration was ensuring transparent
and merit-based implementation of all public welfare initiatives launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
He said the programme was designed to provide landless individuals with a permanent source of income by connecting them with the agricultural sector while also contributing to increased agricultural production.
Officials informed the ceremony that a total of 1,125 applications had been received from across
the district. Following scrutiny, 87 deserving applicants were selected through a transparent computerized
balloting process.
Under the programme, the selected beneficiaries will receive 190 acres, 7 kanals and 13 marlas of agricultural land on a 10-year lease at a nominal rent of Rs100 per acre annually.
In addition, each beneficiary will receive Rs 50,000 per acre as financial assistance to help launch farming activities and become economically self-reliant.
Deputy Director Agriculture Tahir Mahmood Bhatti said the Agriculture Department would provide technical support to the beneficiaries and continue its assistance during the upcoming wheat crop season.
Addressing the ceremony, DPO Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah said economic stability was the foundation of lasting peace. He said the programme would not only create dignified employment opportunities for landless people but also encourage youth to engage in positive and productive activities. He assured full cooperation from the district police in ensuring the effective implementation of government welfare initiatives.
Parliamentary Secretary for Higher education Ajmal Khan Chandia said the welfare programmes launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif were bringing positive change to the lives of ordinary citizens, adding that the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” programme would play a significant role in strengthening the rural economy.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Usman Tahir Jappa, DPO Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah and MPA Ajmal Khan Chandia distributed certificates among the successful beneficiaries and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of the Punjab government’s development and public welfare programmes across the district.
