ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 5th Aug, 2026) Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Wednesday issued a traffic diversion plan for the 21st Safar procession in Sector G-7/2, scheduled to commence at 3:00 p.m. and conclude around 7:00 p.m, advising commuters to use designated alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
An ITP official told APP that the procession would commence from Ali Masjid, G-7/2, pass through Khyber Plaza and return to Ali Masjid, where it would conclude.
The official said traffic diversions would be placed at the following locations during the procession:
Diversion 1: Khyber Plaza Chowk
Traffic from Khyber Plaza Chowk towards the G-7/2 Service Road will be diverted.
Diversion 2: Street No. 7 / Fazl-e-Haq Road
Traffic from Street No. 7 and the loop of Fazl-e-Haq Road towards the G-7/2 Service Road will be diverted.
Diversion 3: Service Mor
Traffic from Service Mor towards the church in G-7/2 and Khyber Plaza will be diverted.
Diversion 4: school No.

Traffic from School No. 9, G-7/2 towards Awami Market will be diverted.
Alternate Routes
For traffic from G-7 towards Blue Area, F-6, F-7 and Margalla Road:
Commuters should use Fazl-e-Haq Road, Jinnah Avenue and Faisal Avenue.
For traffic from F-6, F-7 and Super Market towards Rawalpindi:
Motorists should use Jinnah Avenue, Margalla Road and Faisal Avenue.
For traffic from G-7 towards Aabpara and Sitara Market:
Commuters should use the service road as an alternate route.
For traffic from F-6 and F-7 towards Rawalpindi:
Motorists should use Jinnah Avenue, Margalla Road and Faisal Avenue.
The official urged citizens to avoid the procession route where possible, use the designated alternate routes and cooperate with traffic police personnel to ensure smooth traffic flow.
