LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 5th Aug, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem commended the Punjab Police for ensuring peaceful observance of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), said the force had provided foolproof security for 730 Majalis and 420 mourning processions across the province.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the IGP appreciated the performance of capital city police officer (CCPO), all regional police officers (RPOs), district police officers (DPOs) and traffic police officers for successfully implementing the security plan.
Abdul Kareem said the overall law and order situation remained peaceful throughout Punjab, including Lahore, and no untoward incident was reported during the Chehlum observance.
He acknowledged the guidance and support extended by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, provincial ministers, advisers and regional representatives in ensuring effective security arrangements.
The IGP also praised the Special Branch, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and all operational units of Punjab Police for performing their duties with dedication and professionalism.
He said Punjab Police also received valuable support from the Pakistan Army and Rangers in maintaining security during the Chehlum.
Abdul Kareem expressed gratitude to citizens, religious scholars belonging to different schools of thought, security agencies and the media for their cooperation in maintaining peace.
He urged police officers and personnel to continue serving with the same commitment and dedication to protect the lives and property of the people in the future.
