Near-zero Voter Turnout Recorded At AJK Refugee Polling Stations In Bahawalnagar

BAHAWALNAGAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 2nd Aug, 2026) Unofficial and provisional results from polling stations established in Bahawalnagar for two Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly refugee Constituencies showed an exceptionally low voter turnout, with only one vote cast in one constituency and none in the other.

At the polling station set up at Government Primary School, Halqa C, Muhajir Colony for the LA-42 Kashmir Valley-III constituency, only one of the two registered refugee voters exercised the right to vote. According to the unofficial count, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Syed Shaukat Ali Shah secured the lone vote.

In the LA-34 Jammu-I constituency, a polling station established at Government Aziz Millat High school had six registered refugee voters. However, despite polling continuing from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., none of the eligible voters turned up to cast their ballots.

The absence of any votes at the LA-34 polling station made it one of the rare instances of zero voter turnout in the constituency, according to the unofficial and provisional results. Official results will be announced by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission after the completion of the verification process.
