BEIJING, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 31st Jul, 2026) China is swiftly verifying reports that one of its nationals may be among a group of climbers reported missing after an avalanche in Pakistan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Friday.
Responding to a question during the ministry’s regular press briefing about reports that ten climbers, including one Chinese citizen, had gone missing in the avalanche, Mao said the Chinese authorities were working urgently to ascertain the facts.
“We are acting swiftly to verify and gather information. We will assist our fellow nationals if needed and stand ready to provide support to Pakistan in light of its need,” she said.
The spokesperson did not confirm whether a Chinese national was among the missing climbers, saying the relevant authorities were continuing to verify the information.
According to reports cited during the briefing, the Alpine Club of Pakistan said a team of ten climbers went missing after an avalanche in Pakistan on Thursday.
Chinese authorities said they would continue to closely monitor the situation and provide necessary assistance to their nationals while remaining ready to support Pakistan’s rescue efforts if required.
