SARGODHA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Sargodha, Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry, on Thursday paid a visit to areas affected by overflowing Deewal and Salim drains in Bhalwal Tehsil to review ongoing rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations.
According to the spokesperson for the DC office here, the officials briefed the DC that exceptionally heavy rainfall in the catchment areas had caused water levels to exceed the carrying capacity of both drains, resulting in overflow that inundated nearby residential settlements and agricultural land.
He was informed that desilting work on the Deewal Drain was progressing rapidly, while the cleaning of the Salim Drain had been completed.
Officials further stated that water from the Deewal Drain had been diverted into the Salim Drain, accelerating drainage from affected villages and farmlands.
The DC directed all relevant departments to continue operating machinery and field teams round the clock until floodwater was completely drained from the affected areas.
Inspecting the flood-hit localities, Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry instructed officials to shift residents of mud houses and structurally unsafe buildings to safer locations, ensure the protection of livestock, and leave no room for negligence in relief operations.
The briefing further revealed that two temporary relief camps had been established to facilitate displaced families,one at Government High school Deewal and the other in Salim village. The camps are providing food, clean drinking water, medicines, temporary shelter and other essential facilities.
The DC directed the authorities to further improve arrangements at the camps and ensure timely provision of all necessary assistance to the affected families.
In view of the Meteorological Department’s forecast of more rainfall, he instructed all concerned departments to remain on high alert and complete advance preparations to deal with any emergency situation.
Assistant Commissioner Bhalwal, officers from the Irrigation Department, Rescue 1122, Revenue Department, Health Department and other concerned agencies accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.
