The PPP chairman vows to challenge ‘stolen’ AJK polls, claiming that PML-N always came to power through manipulated elections
MUZAFFARABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 29th, 2026) Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has launched a scathing attack on the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), accusing it of securing power through electoral manipulation and pledging to resist any attempt to rig the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections.
Addressing a PPP workers’ convention in Muzaffarabad, Bilawal, without naming the PML-N directly, claimed the party had “benefited from electoral rigging for generations” and always came to power through manipulated elections.
“After seeing today’s gathering, I am confident that the arrow will emerge victorious on August 2,” he said, referring to the PPP‘s election symbol. “For three generations, our party has raised the Kashmir cause on international forums.”
Bilawal alleged that his political rivals believed they could use electoral manipulation to gain power in AJK as well, but vowed that the PPP would not allow rigging in the region.
He further claimed that the PML-N‘s first Punjab chief minister and prime minister had also come to power through manipulated elections, asserting that the PPP had continued to win public support despite such practices.
The PPP chairman said his party would accept defeat wherever it was decided by the genuine will of the people but would never accept what he described as a “stolen election.
“
Bilawal alleged that polling was manipulated at 30 polling stations in the ancestral constituency of senior PPP leader Chaudhry Yasin, claiming that ballot papers had been illegally stamped to influence the outcome.
“I have evidence from 30 polling stations,” he said. “If the Election Commission is not involved in the alleged rigging, it should immediately order re-polling at those polling stations.”
He also pledged to recover every seat that he claimed had been “stolen” from the PPP and reiterated his commitment to securing property rights for the people of Kashmir.
“I promise the people of Kashmir that I will ensure every stolen seat is returned,” Bilawal said. “The PPP wants to guarantee the people of Kashmir their rightful ownership rights, and we will achieve these rights through democratic means by winning elections—not through the use of force.”
Bilawal’s remarks came amid an escalating political war of words over the AJK elections. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz dismissed the PPP‘s allegations of rigging, accusing the party of being the “mastermind” of electoral manipulation and questioning its credibility in raising such claims.
