NHMP Offers FCCI For Issuance Of International Driving Permit


FAISALABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 29th Jul, 2026) National Highway & Motorway Police (NHMP) have offered Faisalabad Chamber

of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) to provide facility for the issuance of international

driving permit provided proper driving track and office space is ensured.

Addressing a road safety seminar, DIG NHMP Central II Dar Ali Khan Khattak

said that traffic discipline was the only criteria to judge the civilized traits of

any nation.

He emphasized the importance of road safety and said that fatal accidents

were rampant in Pakistan which could be averted through precautionary

measures only.

He said that 90 percent of accidents were caused due to the negligence

of drivers, 5 percent due to dilapidated roads and 5 percent because of

technical faults in vehicles.

He said the maximum speed limit on motorways was 120 but “we give leverage

of 10km to the drivers for the purpose of challan”.

Khattak said the facility of driving permit was currently available in Islamabad,

Karachi and Sheikhupura only.

“The same facility could be provided to Faisalabad if driving track and proper

sitting areas could be provided by the FCCI”, he said and added that permits

issued by NHMW would be valid for 132 countries and it could also offer job

opportunities to the potential individuals to get the job of driver abroad.

He assured to add more road signs and repair of the currently deleted or damaged

boards.

Earlier, FCCI President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh welcomed the guests and said

that textile was the only iconic representation of Faisalabad but now its industrial

portfolio had been widened with the addition of many new and hi-tech industries.

He said that FCCI had 22,000 members hailing from 128 sectors and sub-sectors.

He said that fundamentally the objective of FCCI was to resolve the issues

confronted by the business community but now the chamber had become the

mouthpiece of 10 million residents of this city.

“Upon our demand the stuck up development works have been restarted after

a gap of ten long years”, he said and particularly thanked Chief Minister Maryum

Nawaz for doling out reasonable funds for the uplift of different projects.

He said that now electric buses were running on the city roads while the metro

project was in full gear, however this city still lacks many important facilities

including cancer hospital and dedicated civilian airport.

He appreciated the services of NHMP and said that people were forced to follow

the traffic rules as soon as they enter on the motorways.

He said the performance of local police had also improved with our cooperation

and 74 percent decline in crime rate had been witnessed.

FCCI Vice President Engr. Asim Munir, Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz, Umer Farooq

Kahloon, Muhammad Ali, Jawad Shafique and Azeem Randhawa took part in the

question-answer session while Naveed Akram Sheikh Senior Vice President FCCI

offered vote of thanks.

Later, both dignitaries exchanged shields while DIG NHMP cut the cake to mark

the success of Faisalabad Expo.
