WASA Accelerates Manhole Safety, Intensifies Dengue Drive

RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 29th Jul, 2026) The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi has accelerated the installation of safety nets on sewer manholes across the city on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to enhance public safety during the monsoon season.

Managing Director WASA Rawalpindi Azizullah Khan said safety nets were being installed on 25 to 30 manholes daily and the exercise would be completed as early as possible to help ensure public safety and prevent untoward incidents.

He said WASA was continuing to implement measures aimed at protecting citizens, adding that a safe city and the safety of its residents remained the agency’s foremost priority.

Separately, the MD said anti-dengue measures had been intensified at WASA’s field offices, tube wells and other operational facilities under the chief minister’s directives to eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites.

He urged citizens to promptly inform WASA of any stagnant rainwater or other standing water so that timely remedial action could be taken.

Azizullah Khan said dengue prevention required a collective effort and called on the public to play its part in maintaining a clean environment and help ensure a safer and healthier city.
